Dear Fellow Annapolitan,

chuck weikel

The holidays are in full swing in Annapolis! There are many events taking place in the next week, including the unique, home-grown events that make Annapolis a wonderful place to live. For example:

Tomorrow night, downtown merchants will welcome everyone to the holiday season with the tradition of Midnight Madness. See below.

On Saturday the spectacular Eastport Yacht Club Lights Parade will light up the harbor with holiday spirit, followed by fireworks! See below.

On Sunday, the Friends of the Annapolis Symphony invite everyone to an afternoon of "Wines, Cheeses and Mystery & Romance Writers," at its first Read Between the Wines. See below.

Also on Sunday, Eastport neighbors and the Annapolis Maritime Museum invite everyone to start and end community caroling with a bonfire on the beach. See below.

On Wednesday, West Annapolis merchants welcome shoppers to “An Old Fashioned Christmas,” during its Holiday Madness. Read more below about this family event.

And mark your calendars for New Year's Eve in Annapolis, an alcohol-free family night with fun for everyone.

Check out our website for more information about these and other Annapolis Alive! events and don't forget our radio show every Tuesday at 2 p.m. on 1430 WNAV.

Happy Holidays,
chuck

Midnight Madness

annapolis business associationJumpstart your holiday shopping with a fun evening tomorrow, Dec. 6, when downtown merchants remain open until midnight to welcome holiday shoppers. Sponsored by the Annapolis Business Association, the streets will be festive with holiday decorations and entertainment. Most merchants also welcome you with complimentary refreshments and special discounts. Live entertainment will add to the festive spirit: Hear the Old Mill High School Steel Drum Band, Linda Patterson Stein, Annapolis Area Christian School students, the Salvation Army Band and Cub Scouts Pack 3. WRNR and WNAV will air live on site.

And if you can't make it, merchants will do it all over again next week with Midnight Madness II on December 13. Information

25th Annual Eastport Yacht Club Lights Parade & Fireworks

lights parade This is Eastport Yacht Club's free gift to Annapolis — a beautiful parade of 50 or more decorated boats lighting up the night, putting everyone in the holiday mood on Saturday, Dec. 8. Two fleets will circle from 6 - 7 p.m. — one outside the Eastport Bridge and the other inside the bridge. At 7 p.m. the fleets will switch places and continue until the fireworks begin at 8 p.m. Fireworks will be set off from the Naval Academy. Because City Dock is closed due to renovations, a good place to watch the parade and fireworks is from the Eastport Bridge or from the waterside in Eastport.
